Silat is a form of martial arts that originated and is unique to Malaysia. With influences from Indian and Chinese martial arts, Silat presents a mixture of familiar stances and unique principles. Many form of such martial arts exists. Some of which focus more on different skill sets such as grappling, knife fighting and meditation.
Guru Azlan Ghanie of Kuala Lumpur teaches a special style of Silat that emphasizes a complete excersie program. The nature of this variation is very similar to Tae Chi. He has been teaching this style of Silat for an extended number of years now, which he has learned from his grandfather and he has refined over time.
At age 45, Guru Azlan still teaches this martial arts to his local and international students in Kuala Lumpur. Clearly, being martial arts helped maintained Guru Azlan’s fit and healthy physique which he hopes to share with his students.
