Is he 72, or 27? Sensei Hideo Ochi Shows Us How It Is Done!

Is he 72, or 27? Sensei Hideo Ochi Shows Us How It Is Done!

March 6, 2012 By Brett Kraiger

When I saw this I could not stop smiling. If ever you wonder whether keeping on going in martial arts is a good idea this will remove all doubt. This 72 year old Sensei could be 27!

In this video, Sensei Hideo Ochi is 72 years old. Yet he is still jumping up and down like a youngster, and also out-crunching his entire class … while keeping a wicked smile on his face.

This is a “must-see” video if ever I saw one. It truly goes to show how a lifetime of hard martial art training can produce amazing benefits!

I am reminded of the last time I saw General Choi Hong Hi (founder of ITF Taekwon-Do), when he was 79 years old. He was demonstrating something which involved getting down to the ground and getting back up again. I remember seeing him leaping back to his feet like a spring chicken, and comparing him to my grandfather who was the same age. There was no comparison.

Train hard, for a long time (a very long time!) and you too can outgun an entire dojo of young students when you are in your 70s!

Was born in 1940.
