Japanese Aikido can be helpful keeping elderly adults physically and mentally fit. There is a group of elderly women in Novosibirsk, Siberia who have been practicing aikido for more than ten years. Aikido improves confidence and alertness. The ladies have gotten their black belts and and love practicing. Their heart functions are improved as their bone density. They encourage others to follow their lead, but sadly they have no takers so far. Perhaps this will change in the future.
